The new Apple campus in Cupertino is amazing and doubtless one of a kind. There are many features that earn it the right to being dubbed an amazing one-of-a-kind building. Consider these from Tech Insider’s article. Or take a drone overview.
One of my favorite features is that it is a Net-Zero Energy building. Which is to say that it produces the same energy that it uses leaving “net zero.” How? The circular structure has 700,000 square feet of solar panels.
2.8 million square feet, the campus will house 13,000 employees. Apple CEO Tim Cook says, “It will be a center for innovation for generations to come. We think it’s so important to have a place that inspires you.” The cost, “somewhere near $5 billion,” is very inspiring. For the bankers.
Another cool feature is the curved glass that encircles the huge wheel shaped building. “More than 3000 sheets of curved glass will wrap around the building.” One of those curved sheets of glass holds the record as the “largest piece of curved class in the world.”
Apple hopes to begin using “the new spaceship-like building” next year (2016).
